Contact support
For app issues, feedback, accessibility help or feature requests, email Vincent Toms, developer of CV Engine.
Include your app version, macOS version, the template you’re using and the steps that led to the issue. Remove personal details from screenshots. A fictional example is welcome; your full CV is not needed.

Create your first CV
Download CV Engine free from the Mac App Store. Available in the United States.
- Choose a starting point. On first launch, choose a template and create a blank CV, select Try a Sample CV, or import a compatible CV JSON file.
- Add your details. Use the sidebar to edit personal information, experience, education and other sections. The sample uses fictional details you can replace.
- Check the preview. Select a template from the toolbar and review the PDF as you work. Use sections and page breaks to organize longer documents.
- Export when ready. Choose Export PDF and select where to save the file. Use the Share action to send a copy through an app of your choice.
Already have a CV library? Setup is skipped. Open the CV name menu in the toolbar and choose New Sample CV to explore the sample.
Common questions
Which Macs can run it?
Version 1.0 requires macOS 26 or later and a Mac with Apple silicon, such as an M-series chip. Intel Macs are not supported in this version.
Can I keep more than one CV?
Yes. Open the CV name menu in the toolbar to create, import, rename or switch CVs. Each CV has its own content, template choice and saved history.
Can I import Word or PDF files?
Version 1.0 imports compatible CV JSON files. Direct Word and PDF import are not available. You can enter content manually or start with the sample. A PDF is an exported document, not a complete editable backup of your CV library.
Does the app need an account or internet connection?
No. Editing, JSON import and PDF export work offline. The compiler, templates and fonts are included. Version 1.0 has no AI services, subscription or in-app purchases.
Why does my build say “Brilliant CV”?
Some prerelease builds use that earlier app name. This site supports the CV Engine Mac app, including those builds. Tell us the name and version shown in your app when asking for help.
What if my PDF does not render or export?
Note the error message, check the selected CV and template, and try again. For a layout issue, include the affected page number and a redacted screenshot when you contact support. If a save fails, choose a writable folder and a new filename.
How do I protect my work?
Keep a regular Mac backup, such as Time Machine, and export PDFs you want to share or archive. Saved version history is part of the local app library; it is not an independent backup. Export Source produces template source for PDF rendering, not a full library backup.
Remove local app data
CV Engine has no online account to delete. Removing text from your current CV does not remove it from saved history, exported files or backups.
The steps below remove every CV and saved version in this app’s local library. Back up your Mac and export anything you want to keep before continuing. Contact support if you only want to remove part of your data.
- Quit the app.
- In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder… and enter
~/Library/Containers/com.vincenttoms.BrilliantCV. - Move that app container to the Trash. Emptying the Trash permanently removes that local copy. Opening the app again creates a new library.
Earlier development versions may also have stored default.store, default.store-wal, default.store-shm and .default_SUPPORT in ~/Library/Application Support/. Those filenames are generic: contact support before removing them if you are unsure they belong to this app. Earlier saved AI credentials can be removed in Keychain Access under com.brilliantcv.app.
Remove exported files, shared copies and backups separately using the service that holds them. We cannot remotely read or delete data on your Mac.
